Hyderabad: Telangana's government proposed to allocate Rs 17,677 crores for the department of municipal administration and urban planning in its state budget 2025-2026. This was presented by the deputy chief minister Bhatti vikramarka on Wednesday 19 March in the Assembly.

Bhatti Vikramarka, who presented the budget, highlighted the H-CITI Plan of the state government to improve urban infrastructure and manage traffic congestion. In Hyderabad, as part of the H-CITI initiative, 31 flyovers and 17 underpasses have been built, 10 road expansions projects, and Rs 150 crore has been allocated for beautification.

He also spoke of the construction of sewage plants in the Osman Sagar, and Himayat Sagar Reservoirs. These plants have a capacity total of 20 MLD. These reservoirs will also be refilled with Godavari water as part of MAampUD Department Project.

The government approved an Integrated Musi river Drainage Project, which will cost Rs 5,942 crore.

He also presented the Future City Project, which is a project that the state government hopes to develop through the newly formed Future City Development Authority.

This next-generation city, India's first net zero Future City, will have multimodal connectivity, a public transport system powered by electricity, and green building. He said that it will have specialised zones, such as an AI City and a Pharma Hub. It will also include Sports City and Clean Energy Innovation Zone.

The MA&UD Budget Outline

The total Telengana budget is:

  • Total establishment expenditure for the year is Rs 7,639.96 Crores, including Rs 3,085 for water supply, sanitation and urban development, as well as Rs 1,200 for loans.
  • The total estimated expenditure on the scheme is Rs 10,037 crore.
  • The total capital expenditure for municipal administration and urban planning is Rs 5,213,67 crore.
  • Estimated at Rs 4,701.92 Crore, the assistance to local authorities, corporations, town improvement boards, and urban development authorities is estimated.
